I sat down still this morning with the incense burning, sunshine filled all the space around me and as I tried to meditate, my mind full of thoughts. I found it difficult to still my mind. Its never easy but today I decided to stop.
So with music on: Roots, Common, Tribe Called Quest, and other hip-hop poets. I performed solo drills from JuJutsu, Yoga and Gung-Fu. As I moved from one drill to the other I was focused and aware of all the stiffness in my body and my mind was at ease. After 30 minutes or so I felt ready to take on the day, which is still full of sunshine.
So What is Meditation?
Mind without agitation is meditation.
Mind in the present moment is meditation.
Mind that has no hesitation, no anticipation is meditation.
Mind that has come back home, to the source, is meditation.
Mind that becomes “no mind” is meditation.
It is very important to focus on being still from time to time if not daily. However days like today where I found it difficult its okay to move gently and that to me was Meditation in Movement. Try to find time for meditation but it does not always have to be the way you may have perhaps imagined.
